Gusto, Rippling, and other HRIS exports roster import guide for HeyPulse

Prepare flexible payroll and HRIS CSV exports for HeyPulse, including stable IDs, contact fields, role, department, location, manager, hire date, and status.

⚡ Skip the export — connect Gusto, Rippling, and other HRIS exports directly

HeyPulse syncs your Gusto, Rippling, and other HRIS exports roster live over its API. During onboarding (or anytime in Settings → Workforce Directory → Live Provider Sync), pick Gusto, Rippling, and other HRIS exports, paste your API credentials, preview the roster, and import in one click. The connection is saved so you can re-sync whenever your team changes. The CSV steps below remain available as a fallback.

Export steps

  1. 1Export the people, employees, or team member report as CSV.
  2. 2Include stable IDs, name, email, mobile phone, role, department, location, manager, hire date, and status.
  3. 3Include custom fields that managers use to group workers.

Recommended columns

Include as many of these fields as your export allows. HeyPulse can preserve additional columns as metadata for targeting and reporting.

Mapping notes

Flexible HRIS exports work best when they include durable IDs and contact fields. Extra columns are retained as metadata.

If column names differ from the examples above, HeyPulse still lets admins review detected fields and manually map unusual headers before import.
